Hello!
I am a PhD student at Yonsei University, working in the IM&GE group
led by Prof. Aeree Chung, my PhD supervisor.
My thesis focuses on the resolved neutral hydrogen (HI) properties of local, hard X-ray selected AGN host galaxies, a research project called "BASS-HI" (details below). The working title of my thesis is “Resolved Neutral Hydrogen Properties of Local Hard X-ray Selected Active Galactic Nuclei Host Galaxies” (하드 엑스선으로 선별된 근거리 활동성은하핵 호스트 은하들의 분해된 중성수소 특성; TBU).
I mainly use radio interferometric observations (e.g., VLA, ATCA, WSRT) of HI spectral line emission, as well as radio continuum imaging, and have experience with optical spectroscopy (e.g., Gemini/GMOS) — tools I use to address my broader interest in galaxy evolution. I am interested not only in local AGN host galaxies, but also in HI-bearing, low surface brightness dwarf galaxies as building blocks of larger galaxies, which are often missed by optical surveys.
In 2024, I spent a year as a visiting scholar at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) in Socorro, NM, USA, under a Brain Korea 21 FOUR grant.
